Reese the professional:
I didn’t stumble into sales, I chose it intentionally and grew into it by proving I could create momentum where there wasn’t much to begin with. I always thought I was going to be a dancer; My mom owned a dance studio and had taught her whole life, and I was her star pupil. However when I went to college and started planning for the long term, I knew dance wasn’t the career for me for two reasons: I like my knees, and I like nice things - unfortunately dance would destroy the former without enabling the latter.
I came to learn that my university offered a sales major, and quickly fell in love with this industry. A big thing that pushed me into selling was my other jobs in college: Delivery driver, waiter, etc. I noticed my co-workers on their phones, procrastinating, or doing homework while I tried my best. The result? We all got paid the same, except for the tips… I had gotten my first taste of a meritocracy and I was hooked.
Early on, I learned that selling isn’t really about talking, it’s about understanding how people make decisions, what they’re accountable for, and where friction actually lives. That instinct carried me through roles that demanded consistency, discipline, and results, not just energy. At Yelp, I managed a large book of business, hundreds of local clients, and learned how to run a pipeline like a machine. Month after month, I was reliably exceeding 130% of my quota, not because I chased quick wins, but because I understood how to connect what a customer needed to what the platform could realistically deliver.
That foundation set me up for bigger, more complex environments. At Ascend Source, I stepped into roles that blended strategy, execution, and leadership. As a Senior Account Executive and later Director of Demand Generation, I wasn’t just selling, I was designing how we went to market. I built ICPs from the ground up, researched target accounts deeply, trained and coached reps, and created comp plans and performance frameworks that actually changed outcomes. That work translated directly into revenue: seven-figure partner impact, tripling company targets, and helping scale major relationships like Intel, where performance in one year led to a 7x expansion the next. I was trusted not just to execute, but to fix what wasn’t working all while building and developing a team people along the way.
Being a startup, there was always something new on my plate at Ascend Source. Whether it was learning to demo SAP solutions that their reps couldn’t, purchasing software, or leading sales calls for new partners, every day was different. As my scope expanded, I moved into partnerships and alliances, sitting at the center of Ascend Source’s revenue engine. Managing SAP relationships across multiple regions, I owned more than half of the company’s strategic partnerships and worked directly with SAP, AWS, and ecosystem leaders to generate pipeline at scale. That work wasn’t theoretical, it produced over $33M in partner pipeline and retained every direct partner through renewal. It also required credibility; Showing up in person, delivering on contracts, and being someone partners trusted to represent their interests as much as our own.
Today, as an Enterprise Account Executive at Prospecta, I’m operating at the enterprise level, selling complex master data governance and management solutions into organizations navigating transformation. I source and close high-value deals, build partner and channel motions, and engage directly with senior stakeholders at events and on site. In my first year, I tripled the North American partner footprint and led the U.S. team in revenue. Along the way, I’ve helped onboard and elevate teammates, especially around navigating the SAP ecosystem, because I believe scalable success comes from strong systems and strong people, not ego-heroics.
At every stage, the pattern has been the same: I take ownership, I learn fast, I build trust, and I produce results. I’m not interested in surface-level selling or inflated titles. I like complex problems, building deep relationships, real accountability, and environments where execution actually matters, because “put up or shut up” time is where I do my best work.
Reese the person:
As I’ve said, it’s all about people, so I want to help you get to know me better on a personal level to understand who it really is that would be joining your team!
Starting at the beginning, I had a truly idyllic childhood. I was raised on a lake, rode bikes after school and played lazer tag in the park with my friends, carved “swords” from sticks to re-enact Lord of the Rings, it was glorious. Growing up, I danced competitively in tap, jazz, ballroom, ballet, the whole kit and kaboodle. My mom ran the studio so I practically lived in dance shoes. Twice, I won Mr. Dance of Michigan (2011 and 2013) and went on to complete nationally for the title of Mr. Dance of America. My first attempt at the national level was brutal; Youngest in the bracket (16), cocky, and, well, I got humbled. Dead last, crying making my way off stage after awards, but my mom gave me two choices: walk away or double down. I doubled down. I had faced my worst fear and it didn’t kill me. This moment was the catalyst that ignited my fire.
Music wasn’t far behind. I’ve played in bar bands around Chicago, just like with sales and dance, it’s all about connection. Performing live and seeing faces light up is such a rush, there’s this amazing quote from Dave Grohl, “That’s one of the great things about music. You can sing a song to 85,000 people and they’ll sing it back to you for 85,000 different reasons,” that really summarizes why music is so important. It’s that same spark I chase in sales: that moment when someone realizes you get actually them. For me, it’s all storytelling, be it on stage, in the boardroom, or in the everyday moments we share.
Now let’s talk about my people, the ones who make my life full and meaningful. Hyejung is my partner of seven years, and she is the cornerstone of everything I do. I’m building a life for us, one with ambition but grounded in what matters; Our love, our goals, and our cat, Tiny Rick. Tiny is our furry little dictator, king of hammocks and cat tents, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We don’t just love Tiny, we’re pet people through and through, and you better believe I’m stopping to pet all of the cute dogs when we’re walking around Chicago. I also have a big family, they are everything to me, and I just became an Uncle! Outside of my family, I’ve had the same close-knit group of friends since highschool, and we still all talk on a group call every wednesday to catch up, it’s one of the best nights of the week.
You’ll notice A TON of food photos in the gallery, and that’s because we’re big time foodies in our house. I’ve been cooking since I was just a kid and saw top chef for the first time, and we love trying to make plates that “Wow” guests. I’m no chef by any means, I can only make a coule of the mother sauces, but put me toe-to-toe with anyone on steak or eggs and it’ll be a fierce competition. Cooking for myself I usually do just a smoothie or breakfast sandwhich because I really hate doing dishes, but when I’m cooking for an audience, family, or friends, I’m pulling out all the stops. Just like music, dance, and selling - food is about connection and the evocation of emotions.
At the heart of it all, I’m a people person. My family & friends gave me a foundation I will always cherish, and a huge part of my “why” is not taking that for granted. As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned that it’s on me to make sure the love and support I’ve received is passed on. I believe the best thing we can do is uplift each other, whether it’s working with a client to solve a problem, helping a friend cook a perfect steak, or sharing a laugh with someone who needed it, that’s the legacy I want. At the end of the day, in my career, my hobbies, or with furry friends I meet along the way, I’m just here to leave things, and people, better than I found them.
